"Out of Nowhere"

My wife and I are back in Montana and recovering from our vacation! I'll post some photos from Kauai soon but until then, I'm still sorting through images from this autumn in Yellowstone. As I've previously mentioned, this past fall was wonderful for great grey owl photography and this was one of my favorites. The background, while out of focus, still hints at the owl's habitat while providing a colorful backdrop. Yet the background is out of focus enough that the owl really stands out. Oh and how those eyes are so piercing! As with all my owl shots this fall, this was shot with a 500mm lens with a 1.4 teleconverter.
