Photo of the Week- Alpha

Alpha is the first letter in the Greek alphabet but in English it represents the beginning or the first. In many ways, this photo represents the same; the beginning of winter, the first day of a new year, and my first posted photo in that new year. Bison are icons of the American West, a symbol of the hope that westward expansion meant for a fledging new country. Bison existed in the American West long before there was an American West, long before the first white settlers set eyes on them. And we almost annihilated them from existence. But the bison is also hardy and enduring. In many ways it's a better symbol of hope for those reasons, so that is why I want to start the new year with a bison, and with enduring hope.
