Yellowstone's elk don't get as much attention from photographers as do bears, wolves, and other predators. Even during the autumn rut, when the bulls look impressive with their big antlers, it's rare to see the huge crowds that often are present with roadside bears. But in many ways I prefer photographing elk and other animals that may be present during beautiful light or in scenic locations as it provides an opportunity to record something more unique.
